I am still sewing blouses, but now I feel very uninspired, so I took the time to write about some of the new pieces I made in February.

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been sewing non-stop. I’ve made so many useful clothes, and I am feeling proud of myself. I even completed all the projects sitting in my cupboard and waiting to be pieced together.

Because I made a new pattern, I’ve used it several times already. I love the style of it and how customizable it is.

I made another blouse with this beautiful oversized collar because I found a floral fabric that was begging me to be transformed.

The story of the fabric is a cute one. My boyfriend and I left the house one afternoon in search of cheap buttons. I made two identical pyjamas a few weeks ago, and I wanted the buttons to be identical to both of them but not spend a fortune because buttons are very expensive. We checked a couple of thrift stores, and I found a few sewing items (mostly sewing needles) and decided to take them with me. After scoring a new pack of 25 buttons for 3 DKK, I tricked my boyfriend and went to more stores.

In Fredericia, there is a small place where there are 3 genbrugs next to each other, and they are so good. One is a Røde Kors where all the items are nicely arranged, and you can find almost everything you need. I usually go there for vases, brass candle holders, fabrics, and buttons. I think that the ladies are recycling some of the clothes that are not good for reselling, saving the buttons and putting them up for sale.

Another place where I like to go is Kirppu, this type of store started to pop up everywhere, and I can understand why. It’s a huge store where you can rent a stand and sell your things. People usually are selling household items, decor, clothes, tools, dishware, etc.

I like this store in particular because you can never guess what you can find. This is how I scored this beautiful fabric. I imagine that a cute granny cleaned her house at the beginning of the year and wanted to get rid of many useless things, and luckily I was at the right time, in the right place and found that piece of fabric that she didn’t want any more. Four meters of fabric with 80 DKK. What!? Here, the fabric is very expensive; one meter of the cheapest cotton costs around 65 DKK.

The fabric is a cotton poplin, but not just any cotton poplin, a very good quality one. Needed a good wash and was good to go. I used 2 meters for this blouse, and the gathers from the collar were made out of a different fabric. Essentially, I made a dupe of the first blouse in case someone would laugh at my bedsheet.

Down below, I uploaded some pictures I took during the process and with the end result.
